Last week’s Farm Progress Show was a success despite some rainy weather. Of course rain in Iowa this year was no surprise. Fortunately the days leading up to the show were dry so set up went well and the ground was able to handle the 4 plus inches of rain during the show. The decision to hold the show on permanent sites has proven to be a wise one as the exhibit field in Boone drained well and enabled those attending the show to get around without the slipping and falling we used to see at a wet FPS. Although field demos only took place the first day, show organizers had to breathe a sigh of relief that they were able to get all three days of the show in. Big crowds turned out Tuesday and Wednesday and Thursday’s crowd was a typical final day turnout. The permanent sites in Boone and Decatur, Illinois have certainly reduced the chances of the cancellations of part or even all of a show that we’ve seen in the past. This was my 34th Farm Progress Show and it is still an amazing sight to see it all come together, even when it rains.
